PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS:

   The goal of SILA 2022 conference is to act in accordance with the EU strategy on islands development and launching new projects.
 
    SILA2022 invites you to discuss how digital technologies, science-society and international cooperation, social innovation and Living Labs as a platform of a smart knowledge based society and ecosystem could address new global challenges of smart islands and rural communities and contribute the development of green resilient knowledge-based ecosystems and societies in coastal regions and islands.
 
   The conference discusses how the GLOBAL challenges of today world such as pandemic, climate change, military conflicts and migration influence the economic development, physical, social and mental well-being of population and how the development and strengthening of smart resilient ecosystem could help to respond to these challenges and to maintain higher level of resilience in society, infrastructures and economic ecosystem.
The conference discuss  investments in smart sustainable ecosystems and their societal aspects, resilience, new emerging markets and opportunities for knowledge society development in the business areas of tourism, green energy, ICT, transport, real estate and construction, service and health for islands, coastal and rural areas.
 
AIM:
  •  to promote dialog on interests, complementarities, synergies and cooperation opportunities between the Baltic-Nordic and Adriatic coastal regions and islands.
  •  to address the regions modern global challenges and interests including the topics mentioned
  •  to emphasize the roles of IT, scientific and high-tech communities, Living Labs (knowledge society) in the development of smart sustainable green system solutions (ecosystem view) considering social and resilience aspects related to current global challenges
  •  to prepare a platform for the Joint Innovation Camp (JIC) project implementation proposed at the previous SILA2021 and to contribute to the new entity /institution development for these topics

1. Building resilient smart/knowledge-based, IT driven green ecosystem of coastal regions and islands.
How to unleashing the potential of IT and  high-tech companies investment in knowledge/based green ecosystems development in coastal Croatia as an EUropean internationally attractive, well-connected, sunny multicultural region ?

Areas: green energy, ICT, smart services, robotics, smart health, transport and electromobility, smart agri business,  others
Cooperation with Baltic coastal regions and islands.
Building ecosystems, regulatory challenges, companies experiences, integrated solutions, key driving factors and solutions.
The exchange of experiences and best practices, building platform to attract investments in IT and high-tech, social innovation.
Discussions on how to make these regions more internationally attractive for business and international high-tech companies,  investments and what concrete practical steps are needed.

 2. Smart tourism - remote workers and digital nomads (DN) – regional investments, services, business ecosystems, business cases, islands, Living Lab   
How to stimulate the attractiveness of the regions for investments in business knowledge-based ecosystem by supporting remote workers, digital nomads and the related sectors– such as real estate, health, smart services as a platform for development of regions and islands.
How to connect these ecosystems to rural thematic and group, recreational tourism for adults and children, gifted children camps and how to unleash its potential for islands and villages?
Global vs local dimensions in tourism - tourism and peace, social innovation in smart tourism development. Mass vs thematic tourism and local developments.
Smart health tourism, services and businesses - investments, social innovation and local developments.
Presentation of DN, companies, service providers, regulators, round tables.

3. Smart migration  
How to contribute to the existing ecosystem to provide a platform for professional migrants employment, their integration and social adaptation in the regions ?
How to open more employment opportunities for educated Ukrainian refugees and IT experts, students - as a potential contributors to regional high-tech and knowledge society development.
Policies dialog and international experiences.
How to stimulate and to support the return migration of professionals ? Croatian diaspora views and opinions.

Resilient smart society and smart ecosystems

4. Smart resilient society and citizens
 Integrated smart society resilience solutions addressed modern hybrid threads and economic challenges of the regions. The role of IT and AI.
The role and contribution of knowledge society to smart resilient solutions – the instruments and implementation.
Integrated societal security concept of Nordic countries. Exchange of experiences with Adriatic region, polices concepts and best practices.
 Smart resilient citizens. Physiological factors, mental health, young people, the roles of IT and AI. Societal resilience.  
ICT as an instrument to support societal cohesion, consolidation of efforts and resilience in crises and emergencies.
The role of education, educational and culture institutions, Church in promotion of smart resilient integrated solutions.
Presentations of RD institutes, governmental agencies, civil society organizations, churches, service providers, regulators, international agencies. Round table.
Identification of JIC challenge owners and topics
 

 The hybrid conference invites online and in person participation, presentations, participation in panel and co-creation sessions addressed concrete problems, challenges and projects in these fields .
