PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS:

   The goal of SILA smart islands and coastal areas Forum and Island as a Lab is to act in accordance with the EU strategy on islands development and launching new projects, to provide exchange of experiences and cooperation platform, international co creation environment  connected to local  business ecosystem and communities.
     SILA2022 hybrid development and acceleration meeting invites you to discuss how digital technologies, science-society and international cooperation, social innovation and Living Labs as a platform of a smart knowledge based society and ecosystem could address new global challenges of smart islands and rural communities and to contribute the development of green resilient knowledge-based ecosystems and societies in coastal regions and islands.
    The acceleration meeting discuss how smart digital solutions and interregional Baltic ´- Adriatic cooperation could help to address and to respond to the GLOBAL challenges of today world such as pandemic, climate change, military conflicts and migration  to stimulate economic development in new emerging business areas such Digital Nomads and Remote Workers (DNRW) Smart Tourism and investments.  

   The conference discusses  smart sustainable digital ecosystems, green energy , smart tourism and investments in DNRW and associated  new emerging market, investments and opportunities for knowledge society developments .

   It discuss how to make the regions attractive for companies working with DNRW and how to create local innovation ecosystems/policies to make the regions and their cities and islands attractive for IT and high tech companies investments by providing a Living Lab environments for cooperation , demonstration, products validation and testing in local and international settings. It includes but not limited to the areas of smart tourism and Digital Nomads, green energy, ICT, transport, real estate and construction, services and health.


AIM:
  •  to promote dialog on interests, complementarities, synergies and cooperation opportunities between the Baltic-Nordic and Adriatic coastal regions and islands.
  •  to address the regions modern global challenges and interests including the topics mentioned
  •  to emphasize the roles of IT, scientific and high-tech communities, Living Labs (knowledge society) in the development of smart sustainable green system solutions (ecosystem view) considering social and resilience aspects related to current global challenges
  •  to prepare a platform for Smart Islands Living Lab implementation and Joint Innovation Camp (JIC) project implementation proposed at the previous SILA2021 and to contribute to the new entity /institution/Smart Island Lab development for these topics

Aim:
∙
     to discuss with digital nomads and remote skilled workers communities, recruitment companies, companies, and SME interests in the development of the Smart Tourism ecosystem, projects for development and cooperation with attractive all-season touristic work locations, to discuss what is missing in the region's ecosystem, inputs into regions development, needs in policies updates
∙
      to exchange experiences in the development knowledge society, attracting skilled workers, establishing innovation centers, and alike in attractive touristic locations including remote and rural areas, islands
∙
       to discuss (possibly to visit) DNRW Smart Islands Living Lab implementation on Dalmatian Island
